At long last we've managed to put together an album-length retrospective from the archive of the hugely talented FZV - Featuring tracks dating from 2002-2010, a period during which Richard released some excellent records for well-respected labels such as his own Anathematica, Ai (now defunct?) & Rag & Bone (as well as contributing to Bad Sekta since our first release). Masterfully constructing a highly distinctive sonic force that's as bass heavy as it is meticulously crafted, blending elements of 'classic' idm with tekno, proto-dubstep, glitch and pure sonic experimentation, with hugely satisfying results! Also features a granular bath remix of 'no lilies' by Phuq.
Due to the archive nature of this release, it has been left unmastered.

Originally intended for release in 2007, this ep from the reclusive Intonamori finally sees the light of day as a digital download - thankfully it was well worth the wait! Listening to Ear Weevils 2 can be a woozy & disorientating experience. Four tracks made equally with traditional & virtual instruments, not many of which escape from extensive processing & looping once recorded. Guitars are twisted into new shapes, Jon’s occasional vocals modulated beyond recognition, remnants of found sounds battle for space with walls of analogue keyboards. & then, just when you think you know where it is all heading, up crops something simple & pretty.
The same obsessive attention to detail present in previous Intonamori music is in evidence here with all sounds being either played on acoustic instruments & re-sampled or built from the ground up. Save for a solitary electric piano, there is no room for pre-existing samples or presets in the world of Ear Weevils. Oddly pastoral, the music (and its author) here yearns for a release from the day-to-day concrete & metallic mundanity of city life. Even at its most harsh & electronic, under the surface glows a strange warmth, pulsing & flickering...

"I spent a lot of time in the studio when my grandfather died at the end of last year. I wanted to try & forge my own style a bit more, so ended up leaning even heavier on dub, traditional folklore (especially Jamaican), & acid sounds. Found some old Calypso & Mento records & used some sounds from those as textures & loops. Also I knew I wanted the EP to sound kinda "piratey" as it's perhaps the most romantic of all childhood fantasies, & I definitely spent a lot of time thinking about my childhood when my grandfather passed away. Just wanted the whole EP to sound fun! There's even a sample from a Jamaican Jerk Sauce specialist giving a taste demonstration. Spicy food is the best designer drug! & the final track contains treated samples from The Adventures Of Portland Bill!"
